Traffic & Transportation Projects
Transportation systems allows us to get where we are going safely, quickly and has always played an essential role in the development of society. Terra Associates’ seasoned staff provides effective transportation engineering, design and management options.
We have decades of experience in working with local regulations and cultural concerns. We consider the whole picture, environmental concerns, historical preservation and community outlook. This is critical as residents of the communities that we serve.
Project consisted of adding managed lanes to SH 288 from CR 58 to the Brazoria County/Harris County line at Clear Creek.
Terra Associates completed three traffic signal designs along Discovery Bay and Hughes Ranch Road. The elevated “T” ramp signal created several design challenges that required extensive coordination among several consultants.
The signal design includes video detection, signal pole and pad mounted cabinets, and fiber interconnect. Terra also completed the SW3P plans for the entire 5.09 miles. The design included multiple traffic control scenarios.
Brazoria County, Texas
Terra Associates, Inc. acted as the prime firm for the roadway design of Vicksburg Boulevard (0.5-mile extension from Lake Olympia Parkway to Aldridge Drive). Vicksburg Boulevard was designed to include a full four-lane boulevard with a raised median, curbs and gutters, bike lane, 6′ sidewalks and a traffic signal at the intersection of Lake Olympia Parkway. Terra’s design included delineating drainage areas for the roadway system and computing runoff flows based on those drainage areas and design of the roadway storm sewer. The roadway design included vertical and horizontal alignments carefully avoiding major utilities in the area as well as developing cross-sections every 100 feet.
Terra also provided traffic control plans to ensure that the existing vehicular traffic impact was minimal. The Project Manager convinced the City to let Terra expand the intersecting Lake Olympia Road from one to two lanes, 400 feet in both directions from its intersection with Vicksburg Boulevard. This minimized disruption to traffic at the Vicksburg-Lake Olympia intersection during the construction of this project and also ensured that the intersection will likely not need to close for future roadway projects.
Terra had to coordinate with both the City and Fort Bend County, as with utility companies and local MUDs. The Terra team designed a U-shaped concrete bridge over the existing 16-inch pipeline, which meant that utilities in the area did not have to be moved. This saved money for the City and the County and ensured that there were no construction delays.
Terra Associates completed the Traffic Impact Analysis for a 123,000 square foot Kroger Grocery store along with several fast food restaurants, a shopping center and fuel station.
Project included the development of PS&E for a new public roadway that will intersect with Garth Road south of San Jacinto Mall. The design included 1,500 feet of new concrete pavement, new water & sanitary lines, and a new traffic signal at Santavy Street & Garth Road.
Bidding of the project was split into two different packages. Terra Associates bid the Water, Sewer, and Drainage improvements, while the City of Baytown bid the Paving and Traffic Signal.
Terra Associates is beginning to develop PS&E for several roadway improvements along League City Parkway (LCP).
A comprehensive traffic operational assessment identified several roadway improvements due to a proposed development located near the intersection of LCP & Hobbs Road.
Several deceleration and auxiliary lanes will be constructed along with a new traffic signal. Extensive coordination with the City of League City was conducted throughout the various stages of the project.
